When you think of Honda, you probably don’t think about racing, but maybe you should start to. For the second year in a row, Honda is a sponsor and participant in the Pike’s Peak International Hill Climb which will take place on June 29th this year.
The Pike’s Peak International Hill Climb, also known as the Race to the Clouds, is the second oldest auto race in the United States. It’s a race on a 12.42 mile course that goes up the summit of Pike’s Peak, increasing from 9,390 feet to 14,115 feet. The thin air at the top of the mountain decreases engine power by 30%, making it hard to not only win the race, but merely to finish it.
Honda plans to have vehicles in seven different categories including Car, Pikes Peak Open, Time Attack, Exhibition, EV, Motorcycle, and ATV. Their entries in the past have included a Honda Odyssey outfitted with a 532-horsepower turbo-charged V6 engine.
