In the prestigious Wards 10 Best Engines awards results, given annually to the best in vehicle engine innovations by WardsAuto, Honda was on the list for two different engines this year: its Clarity Fuel Cell and the Honda Civic Type R 2.0-liter turbo engine.
The Wards 10 Best Engines Awards for 2017 studied each engine’s horsepower, torque, technology, fuel economy, noisiness, and competitiveness to determine winners; the fact that Honda made the list with two very different engines shows outstanding versatility.
The Clarity Fuel Cell, a hydrogen-powered fuel cell stack, is 33% smaller than its predecessor and boasts a 60% increase in power density. The decrease in size allows for a more spacious interior, while offering an EPA-estimated range of 366 miles*, the highest mileage in the industry for zero-emission vehicles.
The Type R’s 2.0-liter DOHC VTEC Turbo® direct-injected powerplant engine is the most powerful Honda engine ever offered in a production vehicle, at 306 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque with a top track speed of about 170 mph. This engine represents the best in Honda performance.
From ecofriendly fuel efficiency to track-ready performance, Honda does it all. For more information on these two award-winning engines and the innovative vehicles that contain them, give us a call at Basney Honda.
