The Type R Never Looked So Good

While most of the world probably thinks the Honda Civic is just a great, reliable car, true aficionados know it is much, much more than that. At the 2016 Las Vegas SEMA Show that just opened, attendees will get to see Honda’s latest Civic Type R Prototype.

This prototype design foreshadows a production version that will be the first Honda-badged Type R in the United States. The Civic Type R comes track ready with a sleek, hatchback design and plenty of performance upgrades.

“We promised the most ambitious, sportiest Civic lineup ever and we’re delivering on that promise with each new Civic,” said Jeff Conrad, senior vice president, Honda Division of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “For the first time ever in America, Honda fans and enthusiasts will have access to the ultimate in Civic performance in the form of the new Type R.”

The Type R is based on the all-new 2017 Civic Hatchback, but comes with enhanced styling, including a wide, aggressive fascia, extended wheel arches, and a dramatic rear spoiler. The prototype on display also has a “brushed aluminum” look to finish off its eye-catching design.

The official production version will be unveiled next year and I’m sure we’ll learn even more about its performance capabilities in the meantime. Are you excited to experience the first

here in the U.S.?
